The footage, released by Transparency Bodycam on Sunday, Jan. 19, Christian Andia, 37, of Teaneck, being pulled from his 2025 Dodge Ram, which was lodged in the side of the River Street establishment.
Records show Andia was also arrested for DUI and careless driving in February 2015, and for DUI, reckless driving, and wrong-way down a one-way street in May 2008. Two days prior to the May 2008 arrest he was arrested for DWI on school property or within 1,000 feet of a school, records show.
"What happened?" an officer asks Andia after pulling him from the vehicle at McDonald's.
"Nothing happened," Andia responds.
"Nothing happened? Your car is halfway through McDonald's, so what happened?" the officer shoots back.
When Officer Michael Reo asked how the incident occurred, Andia replied, “I’m f—ed up,” the arrest report shows.
Officers detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Andia’s breath as he spoke and that he had bloodshot and watery eyes, police said. He was also swaying while standing.
The arrest report says arriving officers found the pickup truck wedged into the wall of the side of the drive-thru lane with airbag deployment and heavy front-end damage. Andia was sitting in the driver’s seat and was ordered out by arriving officers.
Andia had slurred speech and was unable to provide a statement of how the crash occurred, however, he did admit to having alcoholic drinks, police said.
Andia was charged with operating under the influence of liquor or drugs, refusal to submit to chemical test, reckless driving, careless driving, and failure to provide driver’s insurance card.
The incident left a 21-year-old McDonald's worker with head, neck, and back pain after being struck by debris following the crash, police paperwork shows. The crash also caused a gas leak, and the building was deemed unsafe for occupation, police said.
